General University Scholarships

The scholarships listed in this section are available to any UW-Platteville continuing student who meets the criteria specified. Note scholarship deadlines. Unless stated otherwise, the application deadline is March 1.
  • Allen L. Eck Scholarship
    • Must be majoring in the science or engineering fields.
  • Allison Rick VandeVoort Women in Science Scholarship
    • Recipient must be a female with a GPA of 3.25 or higher and a dedicted committement to make science, technology, engineering or mathematics her future life profession.  Student should have a declared major in Reclamation, Environment and Conservation, Soil and Crop Science, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
  • Alpha Lambda Delta (Darla Mellor Banfi)
    • Must have received an invitation to join the current year's induction ceremony and be continuing on at UW-Platteville for the fall semester. Award based on academic achievement, financial need, and university and community involvement. 

  • Alpha Lambda Delta Kordillia Johnson Memorial Scholarship

    • Quantity: 1; Amount: $500
    • Must have received an invitation to join the current year's induction ceremony and be continuing on at UW-Platteville for the fall semester. Award based on academic achievement, financial need, and university/community activity.
  • Amazing People Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
    • Must be registered and receiving service from the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities.  Please apply through the office of Services for Students with Disabilities.  Contact Brenda Sunderdance at 608.342.1818 or email sunderdb@uwplatt.edu with any questions.
  • Arthur Davis and Mary(Lindart) Williams Endowed Scholarship in Science
    • Must be enrolled in any science major. Based on leadership and financial need.
  • Balanced Man Scholarship
    • Men enrolled at UW-Platteville full-time as an undergraduate with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Application deadline is 7/31 at 11:59 pm.  Click on application below to apply.

  • Bjarne and Lucille Ullsvik Scholarship
    • Awarded to sophomores, junior and seniors with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.  May be renewable up to three years.
  • Bob and Barb Lewis Scholarship
    • Scholarship A:  Preference to River Ridge WI high school graduate who is a junior majoring in Engineering, Chemistry Education or Chemistry.
    • Scholarship B:  Preference to Mineral Point WI high school graduate who is a junior majoring in Elementary Education.
  • Boebel Alumni Scholarship
    • Applicants must be majoring in Biology, Chemistry, or any of the pre-professional health services. Must have a 3.2 overall GPA or higher. Need is not a factor.
  • Brett and Nick Erickson Scholarship
    • Be enrolled student and awarded to a student with special-needs siblings.  Must explain how having a special needs sibling has impacted their lives or how they have impacted any student with special needs.  Please apply through the office of Services for Students with Disabilities.  Contact Brenda Sunderdance at 608.342.1818 or email sunderdb@uwplatt.edu with any questions.
  • Brogley Leighty Scholarship
    • Preference be from Southwest Wisconsin with preference given to a Platteville High School Alumni. Must have earned at least 30 credits with a 3.25 GPA or higher. Must work at least part-time during school and preference is given to students who major in business or psychology.
  • Butch Leitl Memorial
    • Completion of one academic year in college; a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 for all academic work completed; outstanding character, leadership ability and extracurricular activities.
  • C.D. Smith Construction Inc. Scholarship
    • Junior student majoring in one of the following: Industrial Studies with an emphasis in Building Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics. Must have a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate a strong desire to achieve a career in the commercial building construction profession. Overall character, professional/technical competencies and ability to work with peers and faculty.
  • Carmen and Eva Beining Scholarship
    • Must be pursuing a degree in business administration, computer science or enrolled in a pre-nursing program.
  • Christen Family Scholarship
    • Preference given to a continuitng student that graduated from Belmont (WI) High School.
  • Coach "Butch" McKeon Scholarship
    • Must be from Highland, WI.  Scholarship also available for new freshmen.
  • Daniel Kelley Scholarship
    • Recipient must be from Juneau County, WI.
  • David G. Gourlie Memorial Scholarship
    • Must be from a Wisconsin high school or a transfer student from a two year college in Wisconsin and have participated in some type of extra-curricular activities while in high school.  Need a GPA of 2.5 or higher for high school graduates and ACT score of 19 or above.  Scholarship also available for new freshmen.
  • Deacon John A. Baxter Scholarship
    • ​Must be a leader or officer in the Newman Club or to children of active parishioners at St. Mary’s and/or St. Augustine’s Catholic Churches in Platteville.  Preference given to Knights of Columbus members or children of members.  Must be in good academic standing and a Junior or Senior.
  • Donald F. Russell Scholarship
    • Must have been a full time student for at least three years with an expected graduation date of less than 18 months of receiving the award, minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrates financial need. Essay must include on how they exemplify the following qualities: strong work ethic, "can do" attitude and willing to help those in need with no expectations of pay back.
  • Dr. Peter Kang Memorial Scholarship Fund for Excellence in Public Service
    • Open to any continuing student with special consideration to students in the College of Liberal Arts and Ecuation.  Must be a junior or senior with good academic achievement and standing with the University.  Preference to students who have used their intellectual talents in the community through scholarship of engagement, service learning and/or volunteer public service.  Student also needs an essay of at least 1,000 words addressing their commitment to public service and how thier education is preparing them for a life of service for the public and a recommendation from a faculty member that testifies to the applicant's academic excellence, character and commitment to excellence in engagement, service learning and/or volunteer public service.
  • Edith Barth Scholarship
    • Must be a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Platteville, WI.  Scholarship also available for new freshmen.
  • Einerson Family Scholarship
    • Must be from Mt. Horeb High School.  Scholarship also available for new freshmen.
  • Environmental Scholarship
    • Student must be pursuing a degree in one of the following: Biology with an emphasis in Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Renewable Energy or Reclamation, Environment, and Conservation. Must have a GPA of 2.3 or above.
  • G. Border States Gunderson Scholarship
    • Must be from WI, IA, IL, MI or MN and pursuing a degree in Biology, Reclamation-Environment Conservation, Soil and Crop, Chemisty, Math, Fine Arts or Software Engineering.
  • G. Gunderson Scholarship for Southwest Wisconsin
    • Student must be from the following counties in WI: Crawford, Iowa, Grant, Green, Lafayette, Richland or Vernon and be pursuing a degree in one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Fine Arts, Mathematics, Reclamation, Soil and Crop Science or Software Engineering.
  • Gary Rothenbuehler Memorial Scholarship
    • Must major in one of the following majors:  Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Studies and Industrial Studies with an emphasis in Building Construction Management. 
  • Helen Harms Anderson
    • Undergraduate woman demonstrating financial need; FAFSA must be filed.
  • Helen Skemp
    • Employed at Karrmann Library, GPA of 3.0+, financial need, superior library performance. Recommendation required from library supervisor.
  • International Students Club
    • Available to an International Students Club Member who can demonstrate interest/involvement in ISC objectives and activities. Must be a full-time student, junior or senior standing and have GPA of 2.5+.  Letter of recommendation must be from an academic advisor. Both non-U.S. citizens and U.S. citizens. may apply for the International Student Club scholarship.
  • Jerry Gunderson Scholarship For Appleton West High School
    • Criteria: Eligible for any Appleton West High School graduate. Preference given to students pursuing a degree in the following majors: Biology, Reclamation, Environment and Conservation, Soil & Crop Science, Chemistry, Mathematics or Fine Arts.
  • John Barth Foundation Scholarship
    • Must demonstrate leadership by showing school involvement, community involvement and community involvement.  Preference to student who has a job in either high school or college.
  • John J. Karsten Memorial Scholarship
    • Enrolled in classes and awarded to a student with a physical disability.  Preference wil be given to students with majors in College of Liberal Arts and Education or College of BILSA.  Please apply through the office of Services for Students with Disabilities.  Contact Brenda Sunderdance at 608.342.1818 or email sunderdb@uwplatt.edu with any questions.
  • Jordan C. ('52) and Dido (Overgard) ('51) Nash Endowed Scholarship
    • HS senior or existing UWP student, intends to continue education at UWP, full-time during following fall term, from Sauk, Vernon, Juneau, Richland or Marathon counties, majors: EDU, ENG, AGR or CHEM
  • Joyce Mueller Memorial Scholarship
    • Student must be pursuing a degree in the medical field such as pre-med, medical technology or nursing. Must be in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need. Student must be from Southwest Wisconsin including the Galena, IL and Dubuque, IA areas.
  • J.P. Cullen & Sons, Inc. UW-Platteville Foundation, Inc.
    • Student must be enrolled full-time and majoring in civil engineering with an interest in construction.  Needs to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 with at least 59 credits, exhibit leadership evidenced by involvement in extracurricular activities on campus and in the College of EMS and demonstrate some financial need. 
  • Karrmann Family Scholarship
    • For new or continuing full-time students in the top 1/3 of their class, Student must be in "good standing" and making reasonable progress toward a degree, need is not a consideration
  • Lois Mason Scholarship
    • Must demonstrate leadership and be from Monroe, WI.  Scholarship also available for new freshmen.
  • Marian (Kies) Linden Pioneer Spirit
    • The recipient(s) shall be a group or individual member of a group which fosters the spirit of UW-Platteville and has earned a minimum of 30 credits, demonstrates financial need and preference given to students who have declared a major in education.
  • Melanie Johnson Heald Memorial Scholarship
    • Must be a non-traditional student that fits one of the following:  25 yrs or older, Married, Divorced, Single Parent or gap in education for three years or greater.  
  • Mervin H. and Ellen M. Shumate Scholarship
    • Recipient must be a graduate of Riverdale, WI High School and show financial need.
  • Mick & Rhonda Viney Student Involvement
    • Must be a continuing student who demonstrates commitment to and involvement in addressing issues of sexism, racism, homophobia or ableism on the UW-Platteville campus. Must have filed a FAFSA and demonstrate financial need.
  • Milton and Thelma Longhorn
    • Junior status before fall semester, GPA 3.25 during previous semester, financial need, academic excellence, significant participation in campus activities.
  • Mitchell Ohm Scholarship
    • Student must be a resident of SW Wisconsin with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and majoring in Math and/or Soils and Crops.  Financial need is a consideration.
  • Nancy Curtis-Jerome Daniels
    • Applicant must be currently employed as a library student assistant. Must be in good academic standing. Must have letter of recommendation from library supervisor.
  • Orton and Frances Keyes
    • Student who demonstrates academic excellence and participates in extracurricular activities.
  • Philip and Faith Sealy and Fred and Betty Schmidt
    • Recipient must be a student from the College of Menominee Nation Program and pursuing a degree in either engineering or visual arts.
  • Pioneer Spirit
    • Primarily need based. Special needs not met by normal scholarship or student packages. Applicant should have a minimum of 2.20 GPA.
  • Phi Eta Sigma Hensley Scholarship
    • Recipient must be an officer or active member of Phi Eta Sigma, have financial need (must have submitted a FAFSA) and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Ray and Alphine Larson Scholarship
    • Recipient must be from a high school in Appleton, WI.
  • Roger and Cathy Cliff Sime Scholarship
    • Student must have graduated from Lancaster WI high school and completed 60 or more credits.  Financial need is considered.
  • Roger L. Davies Scholarship
    • Primary major in one of the natural sciences (astronomy, biology, chemistry, geography, physics) with a GPA of 3.0+; financial need is a secondary consideration
  • Rosemarie McNally Scholarship
    • Must be a mother who is furthering her education. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference shall be given to a mother who is majoring in Education, English or Spanish.
  • Roy and Ethel Shaver Scholarship
    • Student must be non-traditional with a GPA of 2.2 or higher.  Preference given to students from single parent families who are in the College of Liberal Arts and Education or College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science.
  • Roy & Helen Sands Memorial
    • Academic achievement and campus involvement. Financial need will be a consideration.
  • Sesquicentennial Scholarship
    • Must have a 2.5 GPA and explain how UW-Platteville will help Pioneer your future.  Need is not a consideration.
  • Taber Family Scholarship
    • Incoming UWP student, resident of Grant County Wisconsin or a county contiguous to Grant County. Preference to military veterans (National Guard or the reserve). Need is not a factor.
  • Tay and Anna (Francis) Dresden Scholarship
    • Must be from a rural community or background. Based on financial need and potential for success. 3.5 or higher GPA on all college coursework.
  • The Abing Family Scholarship
    • Must be Junior with a GPA of at least 2.75, majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture or Math (STEM) related courses.  Students must be from Cassville (1st Preference), then Grant County (2nd preference) and then Wisconsin Resident (3rd preference).  Preference given to veterans.  Must demonstrate financial need and show community involvement.
  • Tom McGuigan Scholarship
    • Must demonstrate leadership and be from Boscobel, WI.  If no students from Boscobel, WI then a Grant County resident.  Scholarship also available for new freshmen.
  • Tony Thomas Scholarship
    • Student must be in good academic standing and preferences given to students who demonstrate proficiency, interest or application of mathematics in their daily lives and or demonstrate musical talent and dedication toward music in their daily lives through performances or compositions.
  • UW-Platteville License Plate
    • Current WI resident (based on UW-Platteville residency requirements for tuition): must show participation in extra-curricular activities, outstanding leadership ability, strong character, campus involvement & academic achievement
  • UW-Platteville Minority Scholarship
    • Student must be a U.S. citizen and a Native American, Hispanic, Black American or Asian American in good academic standing.  Must have made a significant contribution to the welfare and advancement of minority student at UW-Platteville.  Students must write a 300-500 word essay describing their contributions to the minority students at UW-Platteville.
  • UW-Platteville Student Ambassador
    • GPA of 2.75 and sophomore standing.  Students will sumit an essay at a later date answering "how your education and extra-curricular experiences gained at UW-Platteville prepare you to Pioneer the Future"
  • Veterans Memorial Scholarship
    • US Veteran or offspring of US Veteran. Based on need. FAFSA must be filed
