Tickets will be available for the tours and activities with limited spaces at the Welcome Table at 9 a.m. 

All tours and activities are free unless stated otherwise in details.

Start your morning with some fresh apple cider donuts, hot chocolate, and coffee. This will be your opportunity to pick up tickets for the tours/activities with limited capacity.

"A Day on the Farm"

Celebrate all things agriculture at "A Day at the Farm" at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Farm! The family fun includes: a Petting Zoo, Robotic Milker Viewing, Dog Agility Sessions, Sprayer Application Simulator, Ag-Related Displays, and self-guided tours of the farm.

(Co-sponsored by the Platteville Chamber of Commerce)

TICKETS REQUIRED: 1 bus will loop from The Markee circle:

  • Trip 1 – Departs at 9:45 a.m. – Returns at 11:15 a.m.
  • Trip 2 – Departs at 10:25 a.m.—Returns at 12:05 p.m.
  • Trip 3 – Departs at 11:20 a.m.—Returns at 12:50 p.m.

Animal House

Come and visit with an eyeball-licking crested gecko, ornate box turtle, and one of the largest hermit crabs ever! Explore our exotic animal collection and meet some of our students in the Animal House course. You will also get a behind the scenes tour of our animal care facility. Students from any major can participate in this multi-semester course that focuses on animal care, outreach education, and leadership.

College of EMS CenterPoint Egg Crash

Join us for a hands-on activity where you will design and build a cart to protect your egg from a crash. Earn CAMPUS CASH if your egg survives! After the egg crash contest, tour Sesquicentennial Hall (SQH) while you are there!

TICKETS REQUIRED: A leader will meet the group at 9:30a.m. and again at 10:30a.m. in the Pioneer Crossing to serve as the guide to the sessions which will be held in Room 161, SQH

Forensic Investigation Crime Scene House

A mock crime scene awaits you at the Forensic Investigation Crime Scene House and Research Facility. This facility provides opportunities for students to apply what they have learned about processing evidence collection and documentation at a crime scene. Research on techniques and technologies used for investigation happen on site.

TICKETS REQUIRED: 2 buses will leave from the Markee Circle

  • Bus 1A – Departs at 9:35 – returns at 10:45
  • Bus 2A – Departs at 9:50 – returns at 11:10
  • Bus 1B —Departs at 10:55 – returns at 12:15
  • Bus 2B—Departs at 11:20 – returns at 12:40

Industrial Studies Interactive Robot Workshop (9:40 a.m.-11:30 a.m.)

Try your hand at working with industry-style robots at our workshop! We offer a unique program in the college of BILSA which has course work in construction, manufacturing, safety and other combinations. We are a hands-on program and teach from real world situations and experiences.

A leader will meet the first group at 9:40a.m. in the Pioneer Crossing and will serve as the guide to Room 103, Russel Hall.

NOTE: The Robot Workshop will be open until 11:30a.m. You are welcome to go to Room 103, Russel Hall on your own as faculty/instructors will be available to help you with the robots!
 

Pioneer Greenhouse Complex

Learn how to propagate and plant your very own succulent by coming to the Pioneer Greenhouse! This 6,500 square-foot facility utilizes state-of-the-art technology to house plants for the environmental horticulture, soil and crop, and the ecological restoration and resource management programs. The greenhouse includes a classroom, a headhouse, and five different growing spaces.

Sesquicentennial Hall 

Newly opened last fall, Sesquicentennial Hall brings innovation to campus. The Huff Family Innovation Center, an accessible green roof, exposed building infrastructure, and state-of-the-art teaching laboratories make this building a learning tool and national exemplar for transforming engineering education. 

Tours: 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Location: Tours begin at the second floor lobby in Sesquicentennial Hall, near the Women in STEM Center

The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums (10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and Noon)

Your underground adventure awaits! Tour the 1845 lead/zinc mine and discover the local history of this mining district and explore the nature, culture and history of the region.

Location: 405 East Main Street

The World's Largest "M"

If the weather allows, challenge yourself to climb the 266 steps and soak in the views at the top. Take on this tradition that holds a special place in the hearts of the Pioneer community.

Balloon artist extraordinaire!
Find this crowd favorite roving between the Markee Pioneer Student Center and the Bridgeway Commons during lunch!
10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.Brunch
Enjoy the variety of tasty food options while listening to fun music by the Adam Bartel's Band at our largest on-campus dining facility.

Location: Stations, Bridgeway Commons

Cost: $10/adults, $5/students using dining plan and children up to 6 years of age. Parents will receive discounted meal cost of $5 if students use their dining plan for purchase of parent meals.

Brunch Bus
Avoid having to search for a parking spot and hop on the BRUNCH BUS for a ride to Bridgeway Commons!
The bus will be making loops beginning at 10:40 a.m. between the Markee Pioneer Student Center and the front door of Bridgeway Commons. The last run will be approximately at 1:15 p.m. from Bridgeway.

Holder of several Guinness Work Records, John Cassidy is a professional comedian, magician, and balloon artist. He has had many TV appearances on Late Night, Weakest Link, and NBC’s Today Show to name a few! His stage show is lively, unusual, and will keep you laughing!
