Concert to feature alumni
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Department of Performing and Visual Arts will host the “Follies & Falderal” faculty recital on Sunday, Sept. 23 at the First English Lutheran Church in Platteville from 1–2:30 p.m. Admission is free; donations will benefit UW-Platteville student scholarships.
Kassia concerts are unique in that they present musical works by women artists. The “Follies & Falderal” program will feature musical theatre songs that illustrate a unique view of women’s roles in theatre, including songs by Sara Bareilles, Carole King, Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Richard Rogers, to name a few.
Kassia is a professional faculty ensemble comprised of Dr. Susan Savage Day, vocal area coordinator and voice professor at UW-Platteville, soprano, and Rebekah Demaree, a voice professor at UW-Platteville, soprano. Lannette Calhoun, a lecturer in piano at UW-Platteville, will collaborate on the program. The recital will include a new company of singers: Arianna Day and UW-Platteville alums Gwendolyn Haag and Amanda Zasada.
