UW-Platteville Engineering Partnerships Degree Requirements

Electrical Engineering

You will earn your bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering by successfully completing your general education, pre-engineering, and professional electrical engineering courses. Transfer students who do not immediately qualify for the electrical engineering program will be required to start in general engineering. To matriculate into the electrical engineering program you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Complete and earn a "C" or better in two milestone courses, ELECTENG 1210 and MATH 2740.
  2. Complete 11 UW-Platteville credits.
  3. Earn a 2.5 or higher UW-Platteville cumulative GPA.

“C” or better in MATH 2740 Calculus and Analytic Geometry II

You must earn a "C" or better in Calculus I, II, and III; Differential Equations; and Physics II, when these courses are used as a prerequisite for electrical engineering courses. A "C" or better must also be earned in the following courses if they are used as a prerequisite or co-requisite of an electrical engineering course.

  • ELECTENG 3130: Solid State Electronic Devices
  • ELECTENG 3320: Automatic Controls
  • ELECTENG 3410: Introduction to Electrical Machines and Power Systems
  • ELECTENG 3780: Introduction to Microprocessors
  • PHYSICS 3140: Modern Physics
  • COMPUTER 1430: Programming in C++

A "C" or better must be earned in all of the required electrical engineering courses along with an average GPA of 2.0 or higher in all electrical engineering courses. For additional information, review the electrical engineering degree requirements and course offerings.

Mechanical Engineering

You will earn your bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering by successfully completing your general education, pre-engineering, and professional mechanical engineering courses. Transfer students who do not immediately qualify for the mechanical engineering program will be required to start in general engineering. To matriculate into the mechanical engineering program you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Complete and earn a "C-" or better in two milestone courses, GENENG 2130 and MECHENG 2630.
