Pioneering Your Future in STEM
Thursday, March 15, 2018
Velzy Commons & Nohr Gallery in Ullsvik Hall
Learn about the exciting career opportunities that are available for women interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Explore careers with hands-on, interactive sessions that involve critical thinking, experimenting, learning the design process, and using problem solving skills that focus on real world problems. STEM careers make a difference in society and many more women are needed in scientific fields.
The Alliant Energy Pioneering Your Future in STEM is open to girls in fifth through eighth grade. Individuals, chaperoned school groups, home school groups, and girl scout troops are all welcome. Pioneering Your Future in STEM is a collaboration of women faculty, staff and students from STEM programs at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville such as agriculture, astronomy, biology, geography, geology, animal science, chemistry, computer science, dairy science, engineering, industrial studies, math, physics, and sustainable and renewable energy systems.
The cost is $25 per participant until March 1, 2018. After March 1 the cost will increase to $30 per participant. Registration is closed after March 8, 2018. Cost includes breakfast, lunch, program materials, and project supplies. Credit cards are not accepted. Payments must be submitted by check or money order, made out to "UWP Women in EMS Program", to:
UW-Platteville Pioneering Your Future in STEM
Attn: Kim Sargent
1 University Plaza
Platteville, WI 53818
School groups may request an invoice for payment by email. Individuals with financial need may request a scholarship by emailing email@example.com.
Refunds, minus a $5 processing fee, will be given if requested via email prior to the March 1 deadline. No refunds will be available after March 1.
Space is limited so apply early! All participants will need to have a consent form signed, scanned and emailed or mailed, no later than one day prior to the date of the event. (It should arrive a day prior to the event if mailed.)
Teachers and Class Groups Only:
If you are bringing a large group of students you can send paper registrations to send home with the students for parents to fill out. That information will need to be entered into the online registration prior to the deadline. Spots cannot be held while collecting paper registration and there is a risk that the program can fill up before the deadline.
There is no cost for chaperones to attend. Chaperones are required to register and stay in the building for supervision during the event. Registering as a chaperone does not register the students. Breakfast and lunch is included for a chaperone registration.
