Biography

Dr. Barnet earned her PhD in Statistics and Curriculum & Instruction and her Master of Science in Statistics from Iowa State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Bradley University.

Dr. Barnet has an interest in statistics education and applied statistics, including regression models and experimental design.

Biography

Dr. Thrun earned his PhD and Master of Science in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. His research projects with undergraduate students involve numerical analysis and number theory.

Biography

Daniel Allen earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and obtained post-baccalaureate certification in secondary education from Cardinal Stritch University as part of their Master of Arts in Teaching program which is currently still in progress.

Prior to joining UW-Platteville as a member of the academic staff, Daniel worked for two years as a high school teacher in Horicon, WI.

Biography

Dr. Attenborough earned her PhD in Noncommutative Algebra from Indiana University, her Master of Art in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from Miami University.

Dr. Attenborough is an Assistant Professor and has been the Math Club Advisor since 2014.

Biography

Lauren Bingham earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Secondary Education and a Biology Teaching minor at Michigan Technological University.

Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Bingham worked as a private tutor through Sylvan Learning Center and as a substitute teacher. Bingham is currently working on her master's degree in Mathematics through Texas A&M.

Biography

Dr. Black earned his PhD in Statistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to earning his PhD he worked as an actuary for six years in Minneapolis, MN. His primary areas of interest include probability, general statistical consulting, and actuarial studies.

Biography

Dr. Boyles earned his PhD in Geometric Topology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been teaching from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville since 1990. His research involves the application of Galois Theory to the parametrization of rational curves.

Dr. Calcaterra earned his PhD and Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Brooklyn College. Dr. Calcaterra has been teaching with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville since 1983.

Biography

Dr. Chang earned her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Maryland at College Park. Her research interests include number theory and algebra.

One of the greatest accomplishments in her life was when she went to Everest Base Camp (5,200 ft.) in Tibet during the summer of 2016.

Biography

Dr. Collins earned his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, his Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Philosophy from Central College in Iowa.

Dr. Collins' mathematical interests include discrete math, abstract algebra, and the history of mathematics. He has done several Scholarship of Teaching and Learning projects on flipping the mathematics classroom.

Biography

Dr. Czarnecki earned his PhD and Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Iowa, and dual bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Dr. Czarnecki has won several academic awards including Outstanding Graduate Award and the Dr. Bor-Luh Lin Thesis Award. His research interests include number theory, L-functions, and the Langlands program.

Dr. Deis earned his PhD in Semigroups from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He currently works with students who plan to become middle or high school teachers. His interests include outreach programs for middle or high schools in the tristate area.

Terry DesJarlais earned his Master of Science in Mathematics Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Secondary Education) from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Prior to joining UW-Platteville, DeJarlais taught at Cuba City High School in Wisconsin for twenty-six years.

Dr. Frayer earned his PhD and Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI.

In 2012, Dr. Frayer was presented with the UW-Platteville College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science Exemplary Teaching Award. His research interests are related to the geometry of polynomials.

Biography

Dr. Grunow earned her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has previously served the State of Wisconsin as Mathematics Consultant with the Department of Public Instruction. Her major research interest is in professional development for mathematics teachers. Dr. Grunow has been the project director for several federal and UW System professional development grants. A major concentration has been connecting UW-Platteville mathematics education students with surrounding local education agencies (LEAs) and their staffs.

Biography

Terry Hanson earned her Master of Science in Mathematics Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

Prior to joining UW-Platteville, Hanson taught as high school mathematics. Hanson also participated in a two-year project bringing together area high school teachers and UW-Platteville professors in an effort to improve the transition from high school to college mathematics.

Biography

John Hopkins earned his Master of Science in Mathematics Education and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Hopkins taught high school math from almost forty years. During his teaching years at Lancaster High School in Wisconsin he also spent many years as a coach in various sports, led the senior class for twenty-eight years, and acted as advisor to the student council. Upon retirement he joined Southwest Technical College as a part-time instructor before joining UW-Platteville.

Florence Obielodan earned her Master of Science in Mathematics from Utah State University, her MBA from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, and her Bachelor of Science in Education and Mathematics from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria.

Obielodan previously taught in Secondary school (high school equivalent) for several years in Nigeria and taught at Utah State University before joining UW-Platteville.

Dr. Reuter earned her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Physics from St. Olaf College.

Prior to graduate school, Dr. Reuter worked in the MRI research laboratory at Mayo Clinic. Her mathematical research centers on continued fractions and q-series. She is also interested in partition theory, other combinational aspects of number theory, complex analysis, and applied mathematics.
