What is General Engineering?
The general engineering program is designed to prepare you for admission into one of our seven ABET-accredited professional engineering degree programs at UW-Platteville. All new freshman engineering students as well as transfer students who don't immediately qualify for admission to a professional program begin their studies with general engineering.
When you enter general engineering, you'll choose a preferred major. This choice can be changed at any time while you are in the general engineering program. Once you've completed the requirements, you can be admitted into your chosen major including civil, electrical, environmental, industrial, mechanical, software engineering, or engineering physics.
At UW-Platteville, you will be well prepared for success in your major area of study when you've completed your core general engineering coursework.
