One of the advantages of being a member of the LLC is sharing the same sections of the same course with other LLC members. We do this in key subject areas that are required by the majority of members.Past LLC participants have found this to be a great opportuntiy to connect with other women in STEM majors in the academic setting. Cohorting is valuable because it allows a chance for students to better form study groups and tutor each other in courses that they have in common. By sharing the same sections of classess, they not only go to class together but have the same professor and the same homework assignments. Typically you will share cohorted classes with 2-6 other LLC members. In order to do this we need your permission to schedule you with other LLC members.
In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), the disclosure of information from a student’s educational record is considered confidential and will not be released, with certain expectations, without the student’s permission. By selecting yes on this form, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville will share your schedule with only WiSTEM LLC students that have the same classes as you. For example, if you are in Calculus I, we will share that only with the other students in Calculus I. By sharing your class schedule with the WiSTEM Living Learning Community staff, you will have the unique opportunity to work and study more closely with members who are in the same discipline or have the same classes. We will not post your schedule or share with anyone outside of the LLC. We will only use it to coordinate study groups.
