UTBM Belfort, France Exchange
UW-Platteville Education Abroad has been helping UW-Platteville students study at the Université de Technologie Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM) since 2003. Since then, a growing number of students have chosen to study abroad in Belfort, France on the UW-Platteville Exchange program. Today students can study at UTBM for:
- an academic year
- a spring semester
UTBM trains engineers to be quickly operational and particularly suited to technological evolution and to changes in society and is a prestigious research university in France with a reputation for innovative work in transportation and energy. The university has seven research departments and has formed more than 140 partnerships with foreign universities all over the world. A mix of traditional French and North American teaching styles provides students with a unique and rich learning environment.
Belfort and Montbéliard provide active and thriving culture for students, including annual music and film festivals. Theaters, cinemas, and night clubs are popular hang-outs among local students. Bike trails and the rolling mountains offer plenty outdoor adventures for students. In addition to the modern attractions, there are also historical attractions, such as castles in both Montbéliard and Belfort. Belfort is located in the Franche-Comté region, near the Swiss and German borders. Settled between two mountain ridges, the area is known as the greenest region of France. Trains connect Belfort with major cities in France such as Paris and Lyon, as well as with cities in Germany and Switzerland.
