Education Abroad for Int'l Studies and Political Science

Why study international studies & political science abroad?

International Studies and Political Science majors examine global cultures, economic systems, governmental systems and institutions, history, and sociology in order to better understand and analyze international trends in an increasingly global world. Going abroad as part of a UW-Platteville while pursuing a political science or international studies degree gives students firsthand experience learning from professors from diverse backgrounds and engaging with students from around the world, both often having differing views on global issues.  Whether students choose to study, intern, or volunteer abroad, they return with a new perspective on their field and future.

Upon graduation, having international experience on a resume can also help distinguish applicants in the competitive job market.  It can help demonstrate a global perspective of real-world issues, flexibility and adaptability, and knowledge of and openness to other cultures.
