Education Abroad for International Studies

Why study international studies abroad?

International studies majors examine global cultures, economics, government, history, and sociology in order to better understand and analyze international trends and that learning is enhanced by participating on an education abroad experience. Going abroad as part of a UW-Platteville international studies degree gives students firsthand experience learning from professors from diverse backgrounds and engaging with students from around the world, both often with differing views on global issues.  Whether students choose to study, intern, or volunteer abroad, they return with a new perspective on their field and future.

Upon graduation, having international experience on a resume can also help distinguish applicants in the competitive job market.  It can help demonstrate a global perspective of real-world issues, flexibility and adaptability, and knowledge of and openness to other cultures.

PROGRAMS RECOMMENDED BY THE international studies program

The International Studies Program has not identified any recommended programs for their students.  Students can ask their academic advisors if they have any recommended programs and/or courses based on their personal or advisees' experiences abroad.
