MS Distance Education Leadership Certificates

The three certificates noted below are separate from the Master of Science in Distance Education Leadership program; however, credit earned for a certificate may be applied toward completion of the Master of Science in Distance Education Leadership. To earn a certificate, students must complete all of the required courses through UW-Platteville. All courses must be taken under the direction of University of Wisconsin-Platteville faculty. Transferred courses and course substitutions are not allowed. Some courses may require participation at scheduled times.

 To obtain a certificate, students must

  • Achieve a minimum grade of "C" in each course for the certificate program
  • Complete the certificate program with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Request a certificate from the Distance Learning Center within one year upon completion of the final course in the certificate

eLearning Certificate

Together, the courses in this certificate address fundamental instructional methods for online teaching and learning, applications of instructional and educational technology, and quality practices for online course design and management.

Leadership of Teaching and Learning Certificate

The blend of courses in this certificate prepares educators with insights into effective leadership practices for the administration of teaching and learning at a distance.

The required courses are:

Online Program Administration Certificate

The combination of courses in this certificate addresses the administration of online programs through an exploration of operations administration in virtual environments, planning for and administration of distance education programs, and critical issues in virtual education.
