New drop process starting summer 2017

After considering student feedback and reviewing our processes, the advising team for UW-Platteville Distance Learning will implement a more streamlined drop process this summer. The revised process requires fewer steps and puts all the information you need in one place.

If you need to drop your online course after registration has closed, you will need to fill out a drop request form. The form is available on our website and provides all the necessary details you need to drop a course.

The main change to the process is the effective date of the drop, which will be the date the Distance Learning Center receives your form. Students will need to view the Academic Calendars to see the last day to submit a drop request form for each semester’s refund period.

Additionally, the drop request form includes a checklist for all the offices you will need to contact in order to drop a course. For example, you will need to contact the appropriate financial offices if you use financial aid or military benefits to see how a dropped course affects your aid.

Your advisor is available to help you through this process, however indicating all the steps on one form will help students navigate the process more smoothly. You will still need to contact your advisor about dropping, to help ensure that you will still meet your academic requirements for your program.
