DLC welcomes new employees to student services staff
The UW-Platteville Distance Learning Center would like to introduce its students to their newest University Service Associates, Andrea Winkler and Nick Pitzer. Both Pitzer and Winkler began working at the DLC in July and replaced two longstanding employees who retired in the spring. While they each have slightly different duties, both Pitzer and Winkler will be working directly and indirectly with our student population.
Pitzer has always had a passion for education and earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and Education from Northern Illinois University. After graduating, he became a high school teacher and coach and then went on to manage stores and restaurants before coming to the DLC. His primary duties include processing payments from students, setting up third-party contracts for students using company vouchers to pay for their enrollments, and coordinating veteran and military benefits for DLC students enrolling in online and print courses. In addition to payment processing, he is responsible for print-based course registrations and drops, and serves as a support for print-based courses. “I am excited to be working in the Distance Learning Center,” he said. “I especially enjoy working with the people here. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.”
|Winkler is a former UW-Platteville employee and has worked on campus for ten years, starting in Financial Services in 2002. She worked in several academic departments before leaving the university in 2012 to gain additional higher education and financial experience at Loras College and John Deere Financial. Winkler said she was happy to return to UW-Platteville, and in her role as a University Services Associate, she provides application and admission support for undergraduate and graduate programs She also performs cashiering for students and processes payments. “I am very happy to be part of a group of people that really know how to effectively work as a team in a positive and friendly environment,” she said. “I look forward to many years helping this team and this department grow.”|
