MEET OUR REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONIST
Stephanie Young, MS, RDN, CD
Stephanie’s roles on campus range from accommodating special dietary needs in the dining halls to promoting health and nutrition on campus. As a nutrition ambassador on campus, Stephanie has been working on our food management software communication system inputting ingredient, allergen, and nutrition information that became available to access this spring.

WHAT IS A REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONIST?
A registered dietitian nutritionist is a food and nutrition expert who qualifies for the RDN credential by meeting a number of academic and professional requirements including completing a bachelor’s degree with coursework approved by an accreditation council, completing an accredited practice program (internship), passing a national registration exam, and completing continuing professional education requirements to maintain registration. Registered dietitian nutritionists also may need to be licensed or certified in their state of practice (Wisconsin- CD). For more information visit http://www.eatright.org/.
Stephanie started her education here at UW-Platteville with a degree in Physical Education and Health in 2006. After teaching in Phoenix, AZ for 2 years she found a highly valued interest in nutrition. She completed her undergraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics in 2011 and her graduate degree and dietetic internship in 2013 both at Northern Illinois University. Her favorite part of her job on campus is meeting with students to help them make healthy choices on campus and working with staff to improve nutrition in the dining halls. She also has a soft spot for sports nutrition and has worked with multiple UW-Platteville athletic teams to improve performance. Stephanie lives in Platteville with her husband Andres Young, UW-Platteville Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field coach, and their children Lucas and Annelise.
