Volunteering provides a great way to gain experience in the field of psychology. Volunteering can help you learn what types of jobs are available to psychology majors, check out possible Cooperative Field Experience sites, and add relevant experience to your resume.

Use the following resources to learn more about local organizations seeking volunteers.

  • Big Buddy Kinship, Grant Co. Social Services, Lancaster, WI. Seeking volunteers for Big Brother/Big Sister program. Nine-month commitment needed.
  • Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dubuque, Dubuque, IA. Provides health, educational, vocational, and character development of disadvantaged youth. Parks and recreation programming.
  • Easter Seals/Americorps, Wisconsin Dells, WI. Serves children and adults with disabilities. Often need volunteers for weekend respite programs.
  • Family Advocates, Platteville, WI. Provides domestic violence shelter services. Students will need three letters of reference to have direct contact with clients.

  • Family Connections, Platteville, WI. Works for the betterment of children and families. This volunteer opportunity primarily involves office work.
  • LEEPS (Aging and Disability Resource Center of Southwest Wisconsin) Helps older people and people with disabilities and their families. 
  • Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center Works with 4-year-old kindergarten students.
