Bachelor of Science in Mathematics

Mathematics with an Emphasis in Actuarial Science  

A Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an emphasis in actuarial science will provide not only the background to work in an actuarial career, but also a solid foundation in mathematics that can be used in a variety of careers. Those with an emphasis in actuarial science usually graduate with one or two completed actuarial exams. An option for a minor in business ensures a strong background in business.

Mathematics with an Emphasis in Applied Mathematics

A Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an emphasis in Applied Mathematics will prepare students for a variety of careers in business or industry. Bachelor of Science in Data Science

As a data science major with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Department of Mathematics, you will develop your statistical, mathematical, and programming skills to work with many types of data. You will study data cleaning, data wrangling, and data visualization, and develop smart applications in R and Python.

Data Science is also an interdisciplinary program, so you will learn from faculty across academic disciplines. These skills will prepare you for a career in rewarding fields spanning everything from economics, psychology, linguistics, biology, management science, computer science and agriculture.
