While the primary mission of the Karrmann Library is to serve the faculty, staff, and students of the university, the library is committed to providing access to its resources and materials to area residents. Specifically, the library offers access to its materials and resources via the World Wide Web. In using the public terminals in the reference area, users are asked to abide by the following policies:

  • Non-university users must comply with all the established rules regarding acceptable use of University of Wisconsin-Platteville computing services, and as such, may not represent themselves as another user or use someone else's password in gaining computer access.
  • Library computers may be used for educational and informational purposes only.
  • Users are prohibited from installing software or electronic documents onto library computers, modifying the configuration of the computer, or attempt to gain access to files, passwords, or data outside the public domain.
  • Printing is not available from the public access terminals. Users can save work on personal devices.
  • Users assume any risk of damage or corruption to personal data and disks as a result of using library computers.
  • Use of the library computers may be revoked at any time for inappropriate conduct not limited to the above guidelines.

Users who have questions about these policies should contact the Library Director in the library administrative office.
