Purpose

The Institutional Ethics Committee provides consultation and advice University of Wisconsin-Platteville to faculty, staff, and administration in addressing codes of ethics outlined in Chapter UWS 8 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code, Regent Policy Document 20-22, and Chapter 19.45 of the Wisconsin statutes.

The committee will develop policies and procedures to implement UWS 8 and UWS 21.

As outlined in UWS 8.035, " ...committee deliberations and actions upon requests for consultation or advice shall be in meeting not open to the public. Records obtained in connection with requests for consultation or advice shall be considered confidential university information. However, summaries of advice provided by institutional ethics committees, which do not disclose the identities of persons requesting such advice, shall be made public in an annual report."

The chair of the committee will prepare an annual public report by June 30.
