Diversity is an essential element of our global commitment at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The university is strengthened by our diverse, cross-cultural community of students, faculty, and staff, who bring a multiplicity of voices and viewpoints to our shared endeavors. At the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, we respect and value the inherent worth of each individual and we are committed to discourse, sensitivity, understanding, and mutual respect. Through our division, we establish ambitious goals as we strive to increase our commitment to diversity at all levels of the university. The Division of Diversity and Inclusion is committed to providing safe and supportive opportunities for members of all groups within our learning, working, researching, and teaching communities.
Diversity at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is a process of inclusion that allows us to increasingly strengthen its leadership role in the 21st century through the complete integration of diversity into all of the university's core activities. We aspire to create a diverse community that welcomes people of different races, cultures, ages, genders, sexual orientations, religions, socioeconomic levels, political perspectives, abilities, opinions, values, and experiences. We strive to reflect our diverse community in all our decisions and to provide access to the educational and resource opportunities for all members of our community by carefully scrutinizing our policy and procedures to help us sustain an inclusive, productive, integral, and responsible environment. We are especially concerned with having the most difficult conversations, hearing the voices least heard, and sustaining an accessible inclusive environment that empowers all members of the campus community to achieve their highest potential. Attainment of this vision is not only possible but also critical to meeting our promise as a university and most importantly, to the success of our students.
