Welcome! The Confucius Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville was established in partnership with South-Central University for Nationalities in Wuhan, China, and through a formal agreement with the Office of Chinese Language Council International, Beijing, China.
It is an honor for us to have these partnerships that give our Confucius Institute a unique role in sharing information about China's 56 ethnic communities—and their rich cultures.
Confucius Institute at UW-Platteville
The Confucius Institute, established in 2008, is part of an international network of more than 1,100 Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms dedicated to enhancing the understanding of the Chinese language and culture around the world. It is the only Confucius Institute in Wisconsin. We are also the only Confucius Institute in a partnership with one of the six Universities for Nationalities in China, who are under the administration of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission.
South-Central University for Nationalities and UW-Platteville Partnership
Our partnership between the UW-Platteville and South-Central University for Nationalities was initiated in 2001 through the development of a Master of Science in Education Program in English Education.
Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) attaches great importance to the promotion of Chinese language throughout the world, viewing it as an important step to enhancing understanding and friendship, promoting economic and trade cooperation, as well as developing a scientific, technological, and cultural exchange.
