How effective are Counseling Services?
The impact of services received at university counseling centers nationwide has been the focus of recent research. Existing studies suggest that counseling centers are effective in improving client mental health and academic functioning. The UW system studies the impact of our system counseling centers by utilizing the Learning Outcomes and Satisfaction Survey (LOSS). This survey measures the extent to which student clients believe that counseling is helping them learn interpersonal skills and improve academically. It also measures student client’s satisfaction with counseling experiences.
