Post-Graduation Plans: I am planning to either attend graduate school to obtain a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or to work in a research and development setting in laboratory instrumentation with a private sector company.
Something interesting that most people don't know about me: I do not have most of my sense of smell due to a nose break.
I chose my major because: I was interested in Chemistry in high school as my junior year high school chemistry teacher was tough but was interested in the topic. After coming into UW-Platteville and realizing I did not want to do engineering, I turned to chemistry and specifically biochemistry because I want to help others through healthcare R&D.
Advice to incoming freshmen: Get to know your professors and make friends with upperclassmen in your degree program. Also, go to as many seminars and career-related events as you can to begin networking immediately. In addition to this, get involved in research as soon as possible. This is a very fun and rewarding aspect of chemistry, and it strengthens your resume.
