Combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Workshop R.S.V.P Deadline

This spring UW-Platteville will be hosting a seminar focusing on the effects of combat related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in higher education. Our goal is fostering a healthy and successful veterans community in higher educations. We hope that this seminar will help your campus assess its current support to student veterans and, if needed, provide a foundational understanding to improve/implement veteran’s services.

10 a.m.: Introductions by Tim Long and Secretary John Scocos
10:30 a.m.: Michael Orban, a Vietnam veteran who will discus living with PTSD
11:45 a.m.: Lunch and Veterans Panel
1 p.m.: Deirdre Dalsing, Director of Counseling Services at UW-Platteville, will present on the side effects and symptoms of combat PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury.
2:15 p.m.: Eli Caywood, UW-Platteville Veterans Benefits Coordinator, will present on administrative policies to best support and provide programing for student veterans.
3 p.m.: Kristin Bull-Lyon will being talking about VITAL and VA Connections, programs designed to assist student veterans and provide training to faculty and staff to increase awareness of veteran specific issues.

We cordially invite you to attend this seminar.  Registration and breakfast will begin at 9 a.m., and a box lunch will also be provided.
