| At the summit of Mt. Fuji, Japan. There was still lots of ice and snow before the mountain was officially "opened" for climbing in June. The views from the summit are pretty boring since Fuji is so much higher than anything around it. The second "peak" on the Fuji crater rim has a weather station on it so it doesn't feel like the top of a mountain. From Gogome (5th station) it takes 5 hours up and 4 down, mainly on a pile of gravel. 23 May 1982 |  |
