| After a day of spring skiing at Mad River Glen, Vermont, (no snowboards allowed), we'd break out the fiberglass kayaks (that's all there were at this time - this one was $225 at the time from Phoenix - the paddle is a German Kober Moldau Weltmeister because there weren't any worthwhile US-made ones yet.) and run the Mad River. It was very cold, but the Mad River is for canoes and isn't so mad. A few days later, I moved to Idaho via spring runoff for some better water. 26 March 1976 | |
