| Surfing a hole on the New River in West Virginia. I lost the orange Seda paddle the next spring while running the St. Francis in Missouri when I got "strained" in some trees above a low water bridge. Plastic boats had started about 6 years earlier with boats like the Perception Quest, a round-hulled 45 pound monster. By 1983, the Perception Mirage & Dancer was the boat of choice which was a better boat but not by much. Squirt boats had just arrived but the shorter kayaks were still in the future. August 1983 | |
