The Office of Information
Technology (OIT) is pleased to announce a new tool, NetStorage,
is now available as part of the "Virtual Office" system at UW-Platteville.
With NetStorage, you can easily access files located
on the UWP Novell file servers through a web-based interface from any computer
with Internet access. This tool allows access to common resources such as your
"J" drive (User1) and your "S"
drive (Shared1), without the need to use FTP.
NetStorage works with any modern web browser,
including Mozilla Firefox
and Internet Explorer. To use NetStorage,
login to Virtual Office by visiting http://www.uwplatt.edu/go/vo. After logging in using
your NetID and password, click the NetStorage round icon (a folder with an "i" on it, near the top of the page) to access NetStorage. At this point, all network drives will be
visible within the web interface much like if you were to login from a computer
on campus. To expand a mapped drive, such as "J", (User1), simply
click the drive name in the left pane. The files in that drive or directory
will appear in the right pane. The File and Edit menus can be used to
manipulate files in those directories. Don't forget to logout from Virtual
Office when finished("Logout" button at the
top right of the page).
NetStorage gives users an easy way to remotely access
files located on UWP file servers, without the need for FTP. Please take
advantage of this secure and easy-to-use tool to remotely access your files.
