A Visit Before Their Trip

Yesterday, Sean visited the office. Sean, a recent graduate, has worked for me for in the Web Development Office the past two years. He has taken a summer camp position in Japan. He will be a lead counselor for the English camps in Japan, where grade school, middle school, and high school aged Japanese children come to camp for a period of time to learn and practice their English skills.

Actually Sean went overseas twice before; once for a study abroad experience, and once to work at the English summer camp. He had such fun at the camp that he's going back. In fact he's talked about it in the office so much and made it so appealing that another of my students, Sebastian will be going over to work as a counselor at one of the English camps.

The Office Rotation

Since Sebastian will be spending his summer in Japan and his flight there is paid for, he decided to stay a full year and study in Japan. He has already spent one semester abroad in Japan, so he's anxious to get to the camp and then get back to school there. He's got a much better deal this time! He's been awarded a scholarship, so he can afford to stay the full year.

The down side for me is that I'll loose Sebastian right as things are getting exciting in the office again. We're getting new servers and have lots of work to do, and I know I could really use his help and experience. So we're busy getting new people trained, and trying to keep the ball rolling.

Not only did Sean just graduate and Sebastian is leaving for a year, but Donnesh has graduated and at the end of July, will be going to graduate school in Dallas, TX. He also has a really sweet deal. He's been awarded a full scholarship! Wow! No bills for graduate school... You can't get better than that!

Farewell Friends

I'm saddened by the change in the office, but I'm also like a proud father. Sean has success in his future. Sebastian has an opportunity to spend a year in Japan at practically no cost to him and will have loads of opportunity when he returns. Donnesh is getting ready for the next stage in his life, and unlike most people, he won't have a pile of debt to go along with it. How much prouder could a guy be!

I know it's not time to say good-bye yet, but I do wish you all the best in the future!
