I've finally taken some
initiative to work on the site, so check in every once and a while
to see how things are going. I don't have a lot on the site right
now, but the column to the left indicates future development.
| Its
been over a year since I last worked on the site, and a lot
has happened since then. Most notably, I joined the Platteville
Volunteer Fire Department in January 2002. I've completed the
entry level, Certified Firefighter 1, Certified Firefighter
2, and Hazmat class, and am currently enrolled in the driver/operator
course. Being a part of the PFD has been the best thing I have
ever done. The men and women of the department are amazing people
who do extraordinary things. I have learned a lot from them
and I owe them more than I can say. |

running the hand pump on the right.

| I
recently was accepted by Platteville EMS to start training to
be an EMT. This is a great opportunity for me to learn new skills
and help the people of Platteville at the same time. I will
always think of myself as a firefighter first, but I'm really
looking forward to completing my courses and to begin serving |

with
EMS. I've always been interested in the medical field - I actually
considered becoming a doctor at one point in my life, but got
into computers instead (what was I thinking???) Classes are
tough, but very interesting and I don't mind the time I spend
on them. I spend about 12-14 hours a week either in class or
studying for quizzes and exams. |
| My
classmates help make the class so enjoyable. I look forward
to seeing Joel, Jessica and Tina on class nights and practicing
our skills with the training dummies...We give each other a
tough time and pick on each other a lot, but I would be lost
without them. |
