My Special Memories as a Tootler |
|
Jack Lyndon loaned me his German Post Horn and I arranged to return it to him at the ADS Weekend of Pleasure Driving at the Kentucky Horse Park. After dinner on Saturday we went outdoors and played a few calls. He was coaching me on good sound and lots of air support. He was very encouraging. When we returned to the party, he played Buy a Broom and I can still remember how much all enjoyed the tune. |

Jack was a judge at the Iron Horse CDE in Caledonia, Illinois one summer. Here are a couple of pictures of him sounding the horn. Unfortunately, he passed away and the next summer at the Iron Horse CDE we had a dedication to him. I wrote a song for him called Tandem Notes for Jack. It is my favorite call and have publicly played it many times. |

At the pleasure shows and combined driving events in Wisconsin and Illinois a Worship Service is offered early on Sunday morning. It is a tradition to sound the “Call to Church” fifteen minutes before the service starts. Here is a picture of me on the roof of the Villa Louis Mansion, Prairie du Chien, WI sounding the “Call to Church” on the weekend of the Villa Louis Carriage Classic. I was told that folks a mile away heard the call. |

I used my German Post Horn in the Christmas Parade in Shullsburg, WI. It is more appropriate for this vehicle instead of the 48 inch horn.
