Kanstul Music : http://www.kanstulmusic.com/index.htm My 48 inch silver coach horn came from Kanstul and was under $400. It is in the key of C and is jointed. Their customer service is wonderful. This new horn has a bright crisp tone compared to the antique horns that are mellow sounding. |

When I wanted to start learning the coach horn, I asked Jack Lyndon how to get started. He loaned me a German Post horn and sent me a song book. I made a connection with Dan Woolpert who is the bandmaster for the First Brigade Band of Watertown, WI and started taking lessons from him. He had an identical German Post Horn that he was willing to sell me. Byron Anderson a member of the band and an excellent post horn player helped me get my coach horn from Kanstul Music. It is fun to buy an antique horn, but I wanted a playable horn in the key of C and chose to buy a new horn. I needed to find an instructor closer to home and Brian Lehnherr of Belmont Schools was very interested in this coach horn music and instructing me. It was a learning experience for both of us. We were always on the lookout for bugle music or military music. He wrote some duets for us and we even gave a presentation on history of communicating with horns. Many thanks to Brian for his teaching and many of the resources listed below. To see My Special Memories as a Tootler
