In addition the check in and check out times have been adjusted based on feedback from participants. Check in on Friday is between 5 and 6pm and check out is now Noon on Sunday.
This event, presented by the Girls Scouts of Green Hills Council and the UW-Platteville Women in Engineering Program will introduce high school girls to careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Throughout the weekend, participants work in teams to create their own animation for stories, games, or videos using a new, interactive 3-D computer graphics program. This program will give the participants an introduction to computer programming. The students will also prepare a presentation to be given on Sunday to their peers and parents. The weekend will also include presentations from STEM professionals, UW-Platteville College student STEM societies, and other fun and engaging hands-on activities. The full weekend events will be held at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Farm, with overnight accommodations at the Cooper Living and Learning Center.
The program is intended for young women in ages 13-17 who express an interest in learning more about pursuing an engineering degree. Registration will be limited to 36 girls for each session. Priority registration will be given to girls living in the Green Hills Council. Other registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Registrations and fees are returned if the enrollment limit has been exceeded. Confirmation letters will be sent to participants along with forms and information.

The cost for this event is $75 per girl and includes housing, food, and all project supplies. Scholarships are available by contacting the director.

Please print the form, complete it, and send form and payment to the address found below. Girls DO NOT have to be a registered Girl Scout to participate in this event. All registrations are due by Friday, March 27, 2009. Participants who are not registered Girl Scouts will need to fill out a Girl Scout registration form for insurance purposes. The $10 cost of their membership will be covered by the Green Hills Girl Scout Council. Girls are welcome to use this Girl Scout membership for the entire year, but they are not required to do so.
