This UW-Platteville Women in Engineering, Mathematics and Science Program sponsored event introduces young women to exciting and world-changing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as STEM majors. Throughout the weekend, participants will have the opportunity to work in teams on hands-on projects, have fun and learn about how a career in a STEM profession helps our society. The hands-on activities will be focused on learning about building safe and livable communities. Livable communities include effective transportation systems that include multiple modes for all community members. Participants will be interacting with each other, college students and professionals all while participating in exciting and challenging projects related to STEM. The full weekend event will be held on the UW-Platteville campus, with the participants staying in the Cooper Living and Learning Center at the UW-Platteville Pioneer farm overnight.
The Dreaming of the Sky weekend program will be held in conjunction with the Pioneering Your Future program on the UW-Platteville campus. This one-day event provides a non-overnight option for girls to experience a fund and exciting day of math, science and technology exploration. Dreaming of the Sky participants will be participating in this one day event as part of the full-weekend experience. However, some participants may opt to participate in only the Pioneering Your Future Program.
The program is intended for young women in grades seven and eight who are interested in using their skills to impact our world in a positive manner. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrations and fees will be returned if the enrollment limit has been reached. Confirmation letters will be sent to participants along with health forms and information.
