Policies

Equipment cannot be checked out as a substitute for college or departmental resources. If you require the use of A/V equipment on a regular basis, please contact your department chair regarding the availability of a technology enhanced classroom.

Please make reservations at least 24 hours in advance.

Equipment can be picked up in 817 Pioneer Tower. For better service, avoid arriving between 10 minutes to and 10 minutes after the hour. Our staff delivers equipment between classes and may be temporarily unavailable.

Faculty and staff can check equipment out for 1 week.

We do not offer operators.

Students must complete an authorization form and have it signed before they can check out equipment.

Students cannot reserve equipment. They can check it out on a first come, first served basis only.

Students can check equipment out for 24 hours.

When you return the equipment, please make sure to remove all videocassettes, disks, or other media. Also, let our staff know if any of the equipment was not functioning properly or if any accessories were missing.

Anyone not adhering to the policies may be denied access to equipment.

Computer Cart Policies

Computer carts provided by Media Technology Services:

Include a Pentium PC and video projector; some have a VCR/DVD player

Are available for on-campus use only

Can only be delivered as a complete unit

Must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance

Are for educational use only; student groups and organizations are not allowed to reserve this equipment; students needing the equipment may have their instructor make a reservation for them

Have only standard software programs available

Equipment Checkout staff will deliver and set up the cart for classes, meetings, etc. and pick up the cart afterwards. When finished, please leave the cart in the room and lock the door, if possible. Do not put the cart in the hallway!

For the best results:

Prepare presentations ahead of time and allow time to test them on the equipment prior to presenting it. Differences in settings and software versions may affect the presentation, but the basic configuration of the computer should not be changed.

For internet-based presentations, please verify that there is a live network connection in the room. If you cannot find a jack, save the entire presentation, including HTML and graphics, to a disk.

Do not save any work to the hard drive.
