WHAT IS PIONEER PLAYERS?
Getting students and the community involved in theatre is our #1 goal. Meeting new people and having fun while learning about theatre is a huge part of being a member of Pioneer Players. Anyone who participates in theatre productions is automatically a member of Pioneer Players, but you do not need to be involved in productions to be a member.
Pioneer Players holds monthly meetings in the Center for the Arts Theatre. We discuss upcoming events/productions, workshops, and upcoming social events, such as the Winter-ganza and Drama Prom-a. We also discuss plans for theatre trips to the American Players Theatre, Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago.
While the Winterganza and Drama Prom-a are our two major social events, we also host pot luck suppers, scavenger hunts, and movie nights throughout the year.
GETTING INVOLVED IS EASY!
Come to Meetings
It's easy. Get out of your dorm room for an hour and come chill with the plucky theatre folk.
Auditions are held in September, December, and April. Students are encouraged to prepare monologues and must participate in cold script readings. If you are auditioning for a musical, prepare a song. New faces are always encouraged to audition.
Work in the Theatre Shops
The stage not your thing but you love theatre anyway? Crafty but nothing to do? We can point you in the right direction. Each show has its own challenges, and there is always more than enough to do. Help build sets, costumes, and props. We are always looking for new faces and new ideas. You can get involved through the stagecraft class, or you can volunteer during shop hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, from 2–6 p.m.
Assistant Directing and Stage Managing
Work closely with the directors, actors, and production teams. Take on this awesome responsiblity and have an awesome time.
Become a "Techie"
Every show needs a running crew, so come and work behind the scenes.
