Academic Programs

The UW-Platteville theatre program offers a major in theatre as well as minors in theatre and musical theatre. Majors and minors must complete a rigorous academic program that teaches them about the practical side of theatre (stagecraft, acting, stage managing, directing, and design) as well as courses in history, literature, and theory. Studying theatre is an exciting but challenging pursuit. Theatre demands that students be critical and independent thinkers as well as skilled practitioners. We expect our majors and minors to leave UW-Platteville prepared for careers in the theatre or for further academic study in graduate school. A theatre or musical theatre minor makes a wonderful companion to a host of majors, including but not limited to English, education, music, communications, engineering, and criminal justice.
