GENERAL
Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship Program provides up to $5,000 to U.S. citizen undergraduates from two-and four- year institutions. It aims to support students who have been traditionally underrepresented in study abroad. Must receive a Federal Pell Grant to be eligible.
Rotary International
From $12,000 - $26,000. Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarship (3-6 months) and Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarship. Club deadlines vary from March to mid-July for study beginning the next academic year.
National Security Exchange Program (NSEP)
The National Security Education Program (NSEP) is a unique scholarship opportunity for U.S. undergraduates wishing to study abroad. NSEP awards scholarships to American students for study of world regions critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the Middle East).
Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants
$1,000 scholarship for students with 56 – 90 hours of academic credit completed at the time of application and at least one year remaining at home institution after returning. For summer, semester, and academic year. Minimum GPA 3.5.
ASIA
Freeman Asia Scholarship
Earn $3,000-$7,000 to study abroad in Asia. The Freeman Foundation, in the Institute of International Education now administers the Freeman-ASIA Award Program in order to give more American undergraduate students the means to study in Asia. Awards range from $3,000-$7,000.
GERMANY
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
Administers a variety of scholarships; provides financial support to over 50,000 highly-qualified students and faculty per year for international research and study.
JAPAN
Bridging Scholarship
The Bridging Scholarship offers a stipend of $2,500 (for students on semester-long programs) or $4,000 (for students on academic year programs). Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite.
Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarship
$5,000 - $9,000 Scholarships available for study in Japan
Japan Monbukagakusho Scholarship
Monbukagakusho, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT), offers five different scholarships for non-Japanese nationals wishing to study in Japan.
MIDDLE EAST
Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA)
For advanced Arabic language study at the American University in Cairo.
SPAIN
Spanish Association of the Midwest Scholarship - Spain Scholarship
Available for those studying Spanish language, literature or humanities. Must be in Good academic standing and currently enrolled at a Midwestern (IL, IN, MI, WI) university/college and demonstrate superior achievement in Spanish studies.
