Beginning in 2010-11, $8,000 will be available to support faculty, academic staff, and/or classified staff professional development via on-campus presentations, workshops, seminars, and similar activities. These funds are separate from the Academic Staff Professional Development and Faculty Professional Development funds. The guidelines for allocation of this new fund are as follows:

• The funds will be awarded competitively. Any university employee may submit a proposal.
• The maximum amount that may be requested is $4,000. Although it is not required, applicants are encouraged to seek matching funds from other sources.
• A joint committee to include two members each from the Academic Staff Professional Development Committee and the Faculty Professional Development Committee will receive proposals for these funds, review these proposals, and make funding recommendations to the Provost and Vice-Chancellor.
• The professional development activities that are funded must closely align with one or more of UW-Platteville’s strategic themes or annual strategic goals.
• Priority will be given to those proposals that serve university-wide, then college/division-wide, then department/unit, then smaller group goals and audiences.
• The funds are to be used each year. Funds not used in 2010-11 will be forfeited.

Proposals for On-Campus Professional Development Activities in 2010-11 will be accepted until 4:00 p.m., September 1, 2010. (In future years, the call for proposals will go out in the fall semester with a deadline for late spring, so there will be plenty of time for post-award, pre-activity planning.) The announcement of awards for 2010-11 will be made no later than September 15, 2010.
