On March 5, 2008 eleven students along with the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs, Kathryn Lomax and Associate Vice Chancellor, David Van Buren, participated in the 5th Annual Posters in the Rotunda in the state capitol in Madison WI. Barbara Daus, Special Assistant to the Chancellor, Kim Schmelz, Advancement and Research Advisors, Drs. Marlann Marinho Patterson, Hisham Abdel-Aal and Wayne Weber, attended in support of the excellent research being featured by the following UWP students: Ben Tredinnick-Chemistry & Engineering Physics, Daniel Hoesly, Paula Olig, Jerrod Parker, Jim Bruhn, Ashleigh Waltz, & Alex Stark-Biology, Eric Doro-Civil & Envrionmental Engineering, Andrew Melby-Electrical Engineering, Tyler Bechel, and Anna Markgren-Mechanical Engineering..

This event showcased the work of 80 undergraduate researchers and their faculty advisors from the University of Wisconsin System. They shared their work with System administrators, university faculty and administrators, legislators and members of the public. The students were from all 26 UW System campuses. This year the festivities included a Legislative Symposium that kicked off the day. Nancy Hensel the Executive Director of the Council on Undergraduate Research in Washington, D.C. discussed the value of undergraduate reserach to UW System and Wisconsin. There was a legislative reception in the afternoon for the legislators and participants to attend.
