Political Science at UW Platteville:

Political science has been one of the basic elements of traditional liberal arts education and is deemed by many to be one of the most challenging disciplines. Political scientists are interested in how governments are structured, how governments make vital decisions and how they solve societal conflicts.

Political science students acquire skills in such topics as extensive politics and leadership; legislative politics; judicial systems; bureaucracies and administrative procedures; comparative government; international politics; public law; state and local government; ethnic rights and politics; politics and the media; and constitutional law. Along with the institutional approach, students use the decision-making approach and engage in the study of public policy.

Students majoring in political science take courses from three sub-fields: American government and politics, comparative government and international relations, public administration and law.
