Dr. Chris Baxter is an Assistant Professor of Soil and Crop Science at UWP and also serves as a statewide Nutrient Management Specialist for UW-Extension. Dr. Baxter teaches courses including Soil Science, Soil Fertility, Nutrient Management, Soil Morphology and Classification, in independent research projects. He also conducts research and develops extension programming in the manure and nutrient management and soil fertility areas and serves as a consultant to the UW-Platteville Pioneer Farm. He is the coach of the UWP Collegiate Soils Team, advises the Agronomy- Soil and Water Conservation Club, and directs high school competitions in Agronomy, Forage Management, and Land Judging.
A Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin native, Dr. Baxter received a B.S. Degree in Soil and Crop Science and Reclamation from the UWP School of Agriculture. He received an M.S. in Environmental Soil Chemistry, and a PhD in Soil Chemistry from Purdue University. He joined the UWP faculty in 2003.
