New decade in Dairy

Pioneer Dairy Club is an organization that consists of around 50 active members that have an interest in the dairy industry. The club meetings are generally the first and third Tuesday of every month, at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Hall. We meet every week during the Fall semester before our sale.

The club's biggest activity and fundraiser is the Pioneer Dairy Club Sale which is a consignment sale held in the middle of October. Club members do all the work for the sale; including fitting the cattle for the sale. The profit from the sale is used to fund social activities and scholarships for the members.

The Dairy Club sponsors an annual trip to ADSA/SAD Convention in late winter and have gone a number of times to the Royal Winter Fair in Canada. In the past, trips have also been taken to New York and California.

The Dairy Club's advisor is Dr. Tera Montgomery, 215 Pioneer Tower, (608) 342-6027 (montgomeryt@uwplatt.edu).
