Mission of the School of Graduate Studies, University of Wisconsin-Platteville

The purpose of the organization shall be to recommend the formulation and administration of graduate study programs as authorized by the Legislature of the State of Wisconsin and the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System according to the procedures of these Bylaws. Such activity includes the establishment, implementation and evaluation of graduate study. The Graduate Council provides a mechanism for interaction among graduate faculty members and the administration of the School of Graduate Studies on questions of policy, which concern the direction and process of graduate education.

Purpose of the Graduate Council

The purpose of the Graduate Council shall be to recommend the formulation and administration of graduate study programs as authorized by the Legislature of the State of Wisconsin and the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System according to the procedures of this Constitution. Such activity includes the establishment, implementation and evaluation of graduate study. The Graduate Council provides a mechanism for interaction among graduate faculty members and the administration of the School of Graduate Studies on questions of policy, which concern the direction and process of graduate education.

Graduate Council Duties.

The duties of the Graduate Council shall be to formulate and recommend policy concerning all aspects of graduate education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. This includes but is not limited to academic standards, admission policies, probation, dismissal, and graduation. The Graduate Council also acts on graduate curriculum, program change, and approval of faculty to teach graduate courses. The council acts as a graduate student appeal board.

The Graduate Council is composed of the following representatives:

Graduate programs which are enrolling students shall have two representatives on the Graduate Council. Graduate programs which have become inactive and are no longer enrolling students shall have one representative on the Council.
