Hello and welcome to the Office of the Provost at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville!

I am Dr. Mittie Nimocks Den Herder, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

The mission of the Office of the Provost is to foster achievement in all areas of education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, inside of, and outside of, the classroom.  The office, and the Provost Team, is responsible for the oversight, development, and implementation of programs, curricula, and policies that support the academic mission of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. All of this work is in support of an extraordinary faculty and staff who work daily with students. Together, we all work to create a University where the educational experience of each student is outstanding.

As provost, I have three areas of emphasis.  The first of these is in support of the university’s strategic plan: provide an outstanding education for our students.  Across the institution, all of us have an impact on our students’ experience, and it is imperative that we do so purposefully and with the student in mind. My second area of emphasis is on retaining those students who choose to come to UW-Platteville. Because an education at UW-Platteville is intended to be challenging, it is so important that we provide all the support we can to help our students succeed. Last, but certainly not least, my third area of emphasis is on providing an environment in which faculty can thrive in their professional development and in educating our students. Faculty are at the heart of the institution, and their success will be reflected in the success of our students.

So again, welcome to the Provost’s office website, and whether you are a student, a faculty member, or a staff member, we all make a difference to the UW-Platteville educational community.

Mittie Nimocks Den Herder
Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs
