A University of Wisconsin - Platteville parking permit is required in all university parking lots except for the metered parking stalls. A sign located by each parking lot entrance designates the type of permit required.
If a student's housing status changes during the school year, the original parking permit may be exchanged for the appropriate parking permit. Changes must be recorded with Residence Life and the Registrar's Office before a parking permit exchange will be completed.
Residence Hall Permit Parking is enforced 24 hours a day, from 6pm on Sunday evening through Friday noon during the academic year.
Metered parking in all areas of the University are enforced 24/7 for the entire calendar year.
It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that the parking permit is properly displayed before exiting the vehicle. If the permit is not displayed, a parking citation will be issued for failure to display the appropriate parking permit.
If a permit holder forgets to transfer his/her parking permit to another vehicle, the permit holder may purchase daily visitor permits for $2 cash, check or money order. Which may be purchased at University Police, Box Office, & Information Center. Student daily permits are only available at University Police & Information Center. Parking citations will not be excused if the permit holder contacts the University Police after a citation is issued.
Residence Hall students will be required to park on a non-permit enforced city street if they do not have their permits available for display.
A registered student is entitled to one moveable parking permit and one motorcycle permit. The type of permit is based on the student's residency while attending school. It is the student's responsibility to contact the University Police if his/her residence changes. A permit will not be exchanged unless the new address is confirmed through the Residence Life Office.
The moveable parking permit which hangs from the rearview mirror, must be facing the windshield with the type of permit and number clearly visible. If you are unable to hang the permit from the review mirror, the permit should be laying face up on driver's side corner of the dash.
Motorcycle and moped permits should be applied to the front fork or on the fender, and be clearly visible.
