Pre-Vet Camp

Pioneer Farm will again be hosting the Pre Vet Camp for high school students grades 9th-12th with special consideration for those entering ninth grade. June 25-26, 2015 will be the dates of the hands on camp for anyone with an interest in veterinary medicine or who enjoys working with animals. All sessions are given by veterinarians or professional staff from the UW-Platteville School of Ag and Pioneer Farm. Cost for the camp is $315 and includes overnight lodging at the Cooper Living and Learning Center as well as meals and a scrub top. There is only room for 40 participants so spots fill up fast.

Veterinary Skills

Small Animal diagnostics

Practice suturing and injections. Perform a small animal exam and learn what a vet tech does!

Reproductive Physiology

Large Animal Diagnostics

Dissect male and female reproductive tracts and perform and ultrasound. Observe animals, perform a physical, make a diagnosis.

Animal Behavior and Handling

Small Animal Physical Exams

Learn more about normal and abnormal behavior and proper animal restraint. Practice diagnostic and examination techniques on small animals.

All sessions subject to change based on availability and given by veterinarians, veterinary technicians and UW-Platteville professional staff.
