Assistant Professor

Job Details:
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of History beginning fall 2014.

Specialization in Modern Russia, with additional area of focus in Central Asia (preferred) or East Asia, is required. A Ph.D. in history by August 31, 2014, is required. The successful candidate will be able to teach 'World Civilization II' (HIST 1020). Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and present evidence of excellent teaching. In addition, the applicant must have demonstrably strong skills in oral and written communication.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students, and participate in department, college, and university service. The typical teaching load is twelve credits per semester.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, enrolls about 8,000 students in 42 baccalaureate and 6 master's programs. It possesses institutional strengths in middle level education, engineering, industrial technology, agriculture, criminal justice and business. The campus is located in Southwest Wisconsin's largest and most historic community. The region offers excellent school systems, high quality medical and hospital facilities, outstanding recreational opportunities, and vibrant businesses and industries.
