Women's and Gender Studies
The Women's and Gender Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the assistant professor level to start in the fall of 2013.
An earned Ph.D. in Women's and Gender studies or a related humanities or social science field is required. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition, the candidate must have observable dedication to undergraduate education; enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom; ability to work in teams in a collegial environment and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion. A willingness to collaborate with both students and faculty and to become involved in university service is essential. The successful applicant will have a strong record of relevant experience in History or one of the social sciences, with a focus on women's roles in development, politics, and culture, and should be able to define women's and gender studies from a comparative global perspective.
The primary responsibility will be to deliver undergraduate comparative women's and gender studies courses in a student-centered learning environment. The typical teaching load is equivalent to four 3-credit courses each semester. Applicants will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities, including research or creative endeavors related to women's and gender studies. Teaching duties will include introductory undergraduate courses in women's studies as well as specialized upper division courses. In addition, the applicant will be expected to provide academic advising to students, and participate in department, college, and university service.
