Resident Director

The Department of Student Housing is seeking applicants for the position of Resident Director for the 2008 - 2009 academic year. These are full-time, live-in professional staff positions responsible for the supervision of one residence hall. They work collaboratively in smaller team groups to direct and coordinate various departmental projects. The RD position supervises 8- 12 resident assistants, a Senior Assistant, provides assistance to residents, advises hall government, oversees the facilitation of community development, serves as a conduct hearing officer, and performs administrative and managerial tasks associated with the hall. In addition, Resident Directors may have collateral assignments in other Student Affairs areas such as Career Services, Issues Education and Assessment.

A Bachelor's degree is required along with a demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations. Skills needed include: supervisory experience; communication, organizational, leadership and human relation skills.

The Resident Director works under the direct supervision of an Associate or Assistant Director of Student Housing. This is a 10-month appointment with summer employment opportunities. $23,760 (Bachelor's degree) and $27,230 (Masters Degree) minimum 10-month salary, dependent upon degree attained and experience. Remuneration also includes a furnished apartment and meal plan.
